Collection: Dan Bigras

Dan Bigras first became known as a singer-songwriter on the bar circuit. But from the mid-80s, he became a driving force in the Quebec rock scene. In 1990, he released Ange animal, his first album. Two years later, he presented Tue-moi, which he completely directed. The album sold more than 80,000 copies and won the Félix for rock album of the year. In 1993, he released Les immortelles, where he covers in his own way the songs that his mother loved to listen to. He then signed the arrangements for Gerry Boulet's posthumous album. Followed by The Devil's Fool and The Dog, which he directed and produced.

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Charter of Children's Rights, he produced and directed the album 2000 and a child with Laurence Jalbert, Éric Lapointe, Garou and Isabelle Boulay. Then 2003 was the year of Everything which brought together memorable duets and highlights of recent years. In 2005, he came back in force with Fou , an album very close to him and for which he wrote the lyrics and music. 2008, Duos de la Tendresse , bringing together the prettiest female voices in Quebec. Only a few weeks after its release, the album was certified Gold. Finally fall 2009, barely a year later Duets of Tenderness and Dan realizes a fantasy, his latest album FAN . This album brings together the greatest hits of black American music that Dan performed for more than 15 years in bars. He is accompanied by musicians from the MTL All City Big Band.

The singer is also an actor and has a parallel career in cinema. He plays in J'en suis, for which he composes the music. He is also part of the cast of Book of Eve with Daniel Lavoie, Taste of Young Girls by Dany Laferrière and Warriors by Micheline Lanctôt. In 2002, he wrote and directed The Inner Ring , a documentary about the ultimate fights. The enthusiastic reception encourages him to continue on this path. In 2005, he wrote, directed and signed the music for The Rage of the Angel , in which he also plays a role. We also see it on television in Tag , Rivière-des-Jérémie and The last chapter. He is also a teacher of artistic creation for young people in Star Academy in 2004 .

Since 2006, in collaboration with the Clinic of Dr. Julien , Dan Bigras teaches Martial Arts to children in difficulty. But he is also the friend and confidant of young people and the soul of Refuge . For 20 years, Dan Bigras has been its spokesperson and every year organizes the famous Shelter Show which raises funds to help young people aged 17 to 24. And it is precisely as an ally of young people that he participates in Gang de rue , a documentary series broadcast on Télé-Québec, which allows five young people to build projects from A to Z to change the world, a useful gesture both for themselves and for the community. Idealistic but down-to-earth: we recognize Dan Bigras there!

Over the years, Dan Bigras has received numerous awards and nominations. Let us mention the Gémeaux 2000 for the television show of the year (Le Show du Refuge), 7 Félix and multiple nominations at the Gémeaux, Geminis and Genies, as well as at the ADISQ. He was also proclaimed Peace Artist of the Year 2007 and wrote the text of the 15th Dictation of the Americas. The year 2008 was very revealing of his great involvement with society, being proclaimed Artisan of Peace of the YMCA, knight of the Order of the Francophonie and the Dialogue of Cultures as well as named Honorary Member of the Professional Order social workers in Quebec.
