Diva is the first album of previously unreleased songs by Alys Robi. Alys Robi, Quebec's first star and pioneer of world music and the Latin repertoire: Brazil, Argentina, Mexico. She influenced Diane Dufresne and Isabelle Boulay. Recently Arielle Dombasle released an album which covers the repertoire still defended by Alys Robi. The diva performs ballads from the repertoire of Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. She sings Frank Sinatra's hits I'll Be Seeing You, You and I, a Kurt Weill classic Speak Low , a song from the blues and R&B repertoire Goodnight, Wherever You Are. We also find on the album three instrumental pieces from the big band of Lucio Agostini – the legendary arranger and conductor of Alys Robi. A first! The CD is accompanied by a well-researched 24-page booklet, including rare photos, which explores the context of the recording sessions and the origins of the Diva 's repertoire .
