A fifteen-year-old London collective with rap-rock strongly tinged with Indian influences, Asian Dub Foundation puts a punk tiger in its world engine and releases its most roaring album to date. Everything here, or almost, is in the title, and it must be recognized that the color is announced from the outset. If Superpower , the third piece of the new opus, grows more slowly in power, Target Practice and Burning Fence , the first two, increase in virulence. Closer to the sound that Asian Dub Foundation plays live (and which has earned it the courtship of the biggest - Radiohead, RATM, The Cure), Punkara is a veritable downpour of boiling oil and demonstrates that the mixing of genres remains a sure value. The proof, Iggy Pop himself comes to lend his support to a cover of No Fun , an authentic cultural broth, which completes this record towards dizzying and swirling heights.
